(Note: this post includes content found only in the early access version of the game and not the free demo)
Thank you joining us for yet another month of Mice Tea development! We've got another update for you, this time with a wide variety of changes, both subtle and significant, so let's see what you can expect in the latest release!
New Art from The Transformistress - Two New CGs and Polish on Three More
I only had to edit the second number in this headline from the post for last week, so consistent is The Transformisstress's output. Three CGs that appear in the demo have been polished and shaded, which brings them up to snuff with the standard we've set with the rest of our completed CGs.
Of significant note is a new CG that replaces a scene that had no sketch, and even very minimal sprite work at that. When Gavin first finds a shrunken, mousified Margaret, we knew the scale and emotion just wouldn't work with merely sprites. That's why TTM supplied us with a two-part CG you'll see below. It's a fantastic addition and one we think improves the game immensely.
Also appearing is the ending CG for the Sylvia Alt path. Showing it here would be a pretty big spoiler, so we encourage you to play the route to see it yourself. You'll especially want to play it since we added another new CG to that route...
New Art from UltraBondageFairy - New Magic Show CG and new BG for Pet Play CG
UBF has completed the first CG for the stage magic show that appears earlier on in the Sylvia alternate route! This is the first of three alternate scenes using volunteers from the show's audience, but the first one has turned out great! The previous version was a very rough sketch, but the latest version shows of a lot of the character of our cameo character Seren.
Also completed is the pet play scene that appears later on in the Felicia path. The kitchen it took place in was something of a void before, but we definitely get a better idea of Felicia's living space with the new addition.
New Art from KDhynamo - New Sprite Expressions
It's taken three years, but Sylvia and Felicia can now drink tea! You know, the beverage that's the premise behind the whole game! Amazing!
As we've gone on developing the game, our standards for how characters can emote got higher, so we couldn't leave these last two stragglers hanging. We think both turned out very cute!
In addition, Margaret got a few new outfits she can drink tea in too so she can match her partners, as well as a new full-body sprite for Mousegaret that appears in scenes where she appears against full-sized backgrounds. It's probably even cuter!
Story Updates - Edits and Major Revisions
When we got our edits back from our copy editor, she was nice enough to go beyond her initial job description and offer us some very helpful style and story guidance as well to make the game's narrative even better. There's a lot of changes you might not notice, and a lot of changes that are much more obvious. In fact, if you're in the middle of reading a storyline, you might notice some references to events that happened differently in previous versions. We won't go into exhaustive detail, but we'll cover the basics for each route here so you can see what's changed.
Intro: An expanded scene with Julie and Gavin at the bar to learn more about Margaret's histories with both. Also more reaction from Margaret in her Transformation on Day 2.
Felicia: Intensified the bookkeeping drama which feeds into an expanded exploration of what the two want to do with the bookstore later. Also the livestream event has been altered to clarify what's being offered, which also prevents some potential misunderstandings in the following scene where Margaret an Felicia track down the transformation story author. The Girls Night scene has been significantly reworked to remove the presence of drinking if you decide to continue the night upstairs.
Gavin: More reaction from Margaret after her initial transformation, both in intensity and variety. Now Gavin calls Margaret that evening, changing the dynamic of the encounter. Some sex scenes have been edited to make staging and logistics clearer.
Julie: Make Julie's characterization with the other paths more consistent. Clarifications about Julie's concerns with labeling their relationship, and a small tweak to how their relationship does end up. Some more sensitive language in intimate scenes.
Sylvia: Make the triggers and prompts of Sylvia's powers more defined and "stricter." Clarify the reasons she uses her powers and her insecurities about herself and how she uses them.
And that's what you can look forward to this month! Whether you replay a whole route just to see all the new changes, or hop around to your favorite scenes, or play through the game for the first time, we hope you enjoy this latest version of Mice Tea!
